Scholarly & Professional Interests

With fairly broad experience in practice, teaching, and higher education administration, I'm a generalist landscape architect and urban planner.  After returning to full time teaching in 2022 after 13 years working in the college administration, I'm currently involved in a number of local and regional design & planning efforts. These include working with the SUNY Center for Biosphere Reserve Studies to help develop a program for outreach and education to public officials and staff in small towns and cities in the Champlain-Adirondack and Thousand Island-Frontenac Arch Biosphere Reserves in NY, Vermont, and Ontario, Canada; a current undergraduate design studio in urbansism exploring the re-knitting of urban fabric in downtown Syracuse following the removal of the I-81 viaduct; and a variety of volunteer projects and activities in support of land planning and community design in Madison County, NY.  My areas of scholarship and deeper professional interest and expertise over the course of my career have focused on:
